Had a few hours on Tuesday and decided to try for some Chum again at some spots I saw them rolling and holding at the last time I was out. The river was fairly high but I'm still learning. The currents were very strong all the way up to the shallows of the bank almost and although I'm still learning what the river looks like in different conditions in this area but from my intel and talking to a few anglers out there the river was definitely flowing pretty hard. It was sort of tough to find any good spots that had slow runs for a bobber and a jig. I saw a couple of trout jump near some structures as I explored further up river for some decent float runs.

I'm using a "jack of all trades" type of rod right now - a cheap 8'6" ugly stik that's doubling as my drifting rod and a cheap float rod that does OK but could be better. Although the floating is a bit more difficult to keep that line organized and to have any kind of decent sensitivity it's doable. I tried to fish closer to the banks at the first deeper point nearest the bank wherever I could find seams, eddies, and structures.

I threw 4 or 5 of my very terrible homemade jigs and tipped a few runs with some prawn. Nothing. I talked to several other anglers as I stumbled around the banks looking for clearings, and casting areas that seemed like it could hold fish and they also weren't seeing too much. I will be out of town watching the Huskies play Cal this weekend so I'm bummed I'll be missing some fishing time, but I hope by next week when I return the Chum will still be around to be caught. Good luck everyone and hope you guys bring in some fish!
