Headed to the lower skagit river. Chasing steel but ended up having a wonderful day with dollys.
Went to the basics except for the set up a 5-6 fly rod with a ultralight spinning reel 6 pound mono. Pencil lead 2 foot leader and a clouser. Hopping the fly back to shore the same way you would in bass fishing. The nub butt actually helps the fly from coming bqck to quickly. Caught about 30 dollies a sea run and a 2 year old 19 inch wild steelhead. Anyone know where on the skagit the big dollies lurk? Im gonna chase a few of the skagit unicorns with my actual fly rod and reel this year.
