There is a lake in King County that holds some pretty big bass. Caught a 6 lb (4oz) bass out of this lake. I was catching really nice bass all day. Put a deep crank (yes, this lake is really deep) and worked it around the pads. While reeling it in, I had a really small hit. I let it sit to float up and it never did. instead it kept going out. I have braided spider-wire line - so I wasn't worried about the line snapping. To end a really good story, the fish ended up taking my line into the the heavy undergrowth and I struggled for a good twenty minutes trying to get it out. Not to do the whole fishing story - but this thing was huge. I never have problems horsing a big fish in (in situations like heavy weeds) - but this fish just kept taking my line out. The really sh**ty thing is that when I was trying to get the fish out of the weeds, an officer came down and asked me to leave. Apparently, this lake is an illegal spot (although not marked w/signs). He said that
people have disappeared from this spot. Anyways, the officer made me cut my line. I was so pissed. I'll never know what the hell I had on my line - and lost a $7 crankbait.
In retrospect, it's kinda scary. I could've died. So, for the sake of everyone's protection, I will say no further, cause curiosity killed the cat.
