Went backpacking with some friends up into the Mountains, on the 3rd day we hiked into a lake about a mile from the nights camp which was about 10 miles in. We got there and saw a big fish lurking a little ways offshore. We started fishing working all along the lake. Then Karl hooked into a big one, he was using 6 lbs. test on a light rod and reel. we got the fish into about 10 ft. from the bank it was a good 20" then it ran for the rocks and broke off. Then Jess hooked into a big one on a scud fly pattern. Jess being a little more experienced than Karl got his fish in we didn't have any measuring equipment but going by our shoes the fish was over 24". Then about an hour later I hooked into one. The fight was awesome I like bass but these huge cutthroats were awesome. Got the fish in it was my biggest trout ever, over 24" and plenty hefty. Then a little later another friend wanted to try so he borrowed Karls rod and reel. He hooked into a big one too but not knowing what he was doing tried to heave the huge trout about ten feet up the rock he was standing on, as you could expect the 6 lbs. line snapped like thread. All in all awesome fishing 4 huge trout to brought to shore one taken back to camp, and one let free but two beauties that got away.
