Nice to be back on the water. Went to the secret lakes in hoping of hitting a few fish. Didn't expect much with the cold weather that is still lingering, but I was in for more then I could have asked. It was a great day, right around 50, sunny, and pretty calm.

Got on the water at noon. Started trolling a size 1 silver with red bottom Dick nite. Landed 2 fish over the course of the first hour. It was windy and I was having trouble getting a good speed down and the fish were simply not biting. Tried trolling around a red F4 flatfish, got one over 30 mins of trolling. Wind died down considerably, went back with a Dick Nite, and started getting a bite about every 10 mins. From 1:30 to 3:30 I caught and released probably 10 more nice rainbows and lost probably 2 or 3 more and had a few hits that were quick to spit the hook. Not a bad day. Probably caught a dozen or so nice rainbows (15-16 inchers, a few at 17") and lost a few. Not bad for a days worth of trolling

-Baits that worked: None. I was trolling.
-Type of fish caught: Rainbow trout.
-Length of fish: Smallest was 14. Most were 15.5 inches. 2 tipped 17 inches
-Weight of fish: I did not weigh any of them. I simply took the hook out, checked their length, and sent them back to the water
-Time of day: Noon to 3:30
-Locations on lake: All over. They seemed to be biting throughout the lake.
-Conditions of the water: Mostly clear. Probably 6 or 7 feet of visibility. Slight wind chop on the top
-Lures used: F4 Red flatfish, but a silver/red size 1 Dick Nite produced the best
-Weather conditions. Low 50's, slight wind, sunny.
-Depth: Right off the bottom. Kept the lure 2-3 feet off the bottom, and it worked.
-Boat speed: SLOW. speed one or two on the Minn Kota
-Number of other people on the lake: I think I counted 4 or 5 other boats/pontoon boats out there...

The picture of the fish on the left looks a lot like a Cutthroat, is it? Those are some really nice fish I can see why you dont want anyone to know your spot!!!

No it was just a rainbow sporting some spawning colors. First time I've pulled one that looked like that outta that lake. Checked to see if it was a cutt, it wasn't....

Negative. I did not tip the DN's with anything. I find that when slow trolling a small spoon like that, tipping the lure with a worm or maggot ends up ruining the action of the jig.

Went back there last night and this morning, got some killer fishing in despite the cold weather. 35F, breezy and drizzling this morning didn't make for a very suitable situation, but reeling in fish always warms you up...
