Fished two lakes looking for "Homestead" lake in Grant county.
We followed the hunting trail north from the parking area. We could see a large lake to our left, but the trail ended at dam with a narrow clear lake above it. We saw a couple Carp spook down stream as we approached the tall barrier. We launched the float tubes and fished briefly in this shallow weedy lake. After not seeing any sign of a fish, we quickly abandoned this small lake. We followed the trail back to where we could see the larger lake.
We worked our way down to the brush and rode the wind down the lake. This lake had about 10" of visibility. It was also very shallow, at least in the area we covered. I hooked into a big fish that screamed the drag for awhile. I finally got it in to see it was a Carp. He hit a Gold Hildebrandt. I saw a couple guys plunking from shore pull in a large silvery fish but I didn't see it up close.
We got blown off the water in less than an hour and headed out. This lake is the larger lake in the area on the map, it has two inlets one is Crab creek and the other creek has clearer water.
