MattyG invited me to fish his secret spot, I was able to sneak away for a few hours after work. We both were using 4 inch watermelon colored senkos and fishing weightless. There is a small dock in front of the dock we were fishing from. I was getting small nibbles here and there and Matt has never fished with a senko before so he was just casting and getting the feel of it sinking to the bottom. My cast that landed this trout actually hit the dock and was stuck for a minute, right when I freed it and got it back in the water, my line started taking off..I counted to like 5 and set the hook. I knew it was big and felt like a nice bass. It was peeling some line and making my reel talk. I swear with all the stuff going around me trying to land this fish, I thought I was going to lose it. Matty was helping some kid tie on a hook and the net was tangled up under his back pack. I patiently asked, "Hey bud, you going to help me here, this isn't a little bluegill bro." I got a glimpse of the fish and was shocked to see a trout!! Finally Matt got a hold of the net, but as soon as the fish seen the net, it took off and jumped clear out of the water. The battle was intense but I finally got ahold of the struggle, the trout tired and Matt was able to net it. After some photos and a short revival, I admired it as it swam away.. Oh, and the toad that Matt is holding, I had it on first and Matt "Bassblocked" me and cast right where it came off...
