Just a little report from a small lake that can't stand too much fishing pressure.
Put in about 12:30 - 4:00. Water temp was 52-55 degrees. No luck catching my first bass of the year. Probably because I brought my camera and finally bought a scale. lol. Just threw some creature baits and jig and trailer. Wind really picked up about an hour after I got there, so basically I paddled around the shallows finding structure and cover for future trips.
One really cool thing, I saw an otter. That was a first. Got to watch him for about 10 minutes before he saw me. He swam up about 50 ft away and "stood up" as high as he could in the water to try to figure out what I was. That was worth the price of admission right there. I can catch fish almost anytime, but felt lucky to see him.
Think I'll wait another few weeks before getting the tube out on the water again. Still too cold, and was a popsicle after about an hour.
