Sorry this has to be secret, my buddy, who took me, made me promise:(
Elijah knows where I went;)
Sometimes ratings are more reflective of the days outcome in relation to the expectations when the day started. It may have not been a four star day, normally, but fishing for bass earlier than I ever have before and catching a fish makes the day a great success:
First off, would never think that I could catch a fish this early. But, I watched like 6 bass fishing seminars at the Sportsman's Show last week, and one professional bass fisherman there claimed that, for big fish, February was one of his favorite months. So, he stood up there and told all that wanted to listen how to catch big fish in February. I got all excited, called my buddy, told him, he, in turn, got all excited, and today we went.
Fished jigs at a lake, lol, from 8:30 or 9:00 until 1:00p.m. After about an hour and a half with no action, I cast out into about 3 feet of water. Let it sink, tightened the line up just a tad to start a little twitching action and noticed my line slowly moving away from the brush. I set the hook. Fish did not fight too awfully hard, a minute maybe, which for cold water was probably pretty good. My buddy jumped down and lipped my fish for me. First fish of the year for me tipped my scale at 4 pounds 10 ounces.
We also found a dead turtle floating in the weeds. I grabbed him up and took a picture of him. His head was gone, like bit off. Go figure. Otter??? But this was a big turtle.
Cold day but the rain held off. Fairly windy but not overbearing. A good day and we were the only boat on the lake:)
