Went back into my "Secret lake",, LOL. It's not so secret these days, I keep telling friends about it, but I know that few will go through the trouble of getting there, so what the heck.
Me and two buddies got on the water about 11:30 am. I started off with a couple different crappie jigs under a bobber, tipped with a maggot. White crappy jig, and a green one. Very slow this time around on the crappie jig. I had one fish that ran my bobber around the lake, but couldn't get him hooked. I then switched to some drop shotting finese worms, no action there. Little bit of throwing the 4" Senko wacky rigged. I picked up on dink LMB with the Senko. Pitching the worm right up to wood cover or lilly pads. That was the only fish to the tube for the day, very slow this time here. My two friends got no fish, but had a couple hook ups. Both of them were fly fishing, foating line. I then switched to my fly line. I started slowly dragging a fly that I can't recall the name of, maybe a type of streamer, bright green and bush when dry.
I was jerking it every so oftern, fly was riding about 6' under the surface..... Suddenly I got hit hard! The fly line could be seen taking off in the other direction. I set the hook, but not well enough. Fish was there for 10 seconds, rod bent over hard. Then gone. Waaaaaa! I do very little fly fishing, and this was the best size fish I've ever had on the fly rod, wish I'd of seen it.

So it was very slow, only one lmb, and a couple hits. Last time out here yielded a 3lb rainbow, so the nice hit today is encouraging.

OMG... I forgot the most important part of the report. What a crappy experience! I was fishing out of a new Outcast float tube. This is a big, off the water tube. There is not as much room behind the seat as my regular tube. I fish with an 8'6" rod, and this makes it hard to fit the rod in the back without it possibly falling out. YUP!, you guessed it. My spinning rod, and SHWEET Pfluegher president reel fell in, and gone. I never even so it go overboard. I do know exactly where it went in, and there is talk about snorkeling this summer for it. $200.00 in the drink!

Oh man...major bummer. Hope you get that $200 reel back some day! Props on the fly rod though. I'd only do fly fishing if it fished as well as spinning gear in deeper water.

Ouch on the rod and reel loss! But that hit on the fly rod sounded like a thrill. Thanks for the report, Mr. Quad. A got very little action around Union Bay, Lk WA -- report should be up soon.
