This lake really isn't a secret but I will let you have some fun figuring out which lake it is. It drains to the Kettle River from the west, not far from Boyds but you will not find it listed on this website.
Anyway....you must have a 4 x 4 with low range (or ATV, or bike, etc), or else hike in, to get into this lake.
It is small, but deep. It sets in a little bowl with a limestone outcropping on one side. It has been planted with browns and perhaps brookies but all i have ever caught was browns. The lake is reasonably rich and has crawfish for the browns to eat too.
It was a beautiful day with intermittent sun and sprinkles. Little wind to contend with. There were 2 other gentlemen when I was there but they were shore fishing. I had a float tube and was stripping black and olive buggers at various depths. I limited in about 3 hours and took some nice browns home for the smoker...mmmmmmm!
