I know I haven't posted in forever even though I have been fishing quite a bit. I figured todays trip warranted a report. A friend and I decided it was to nice a day to not go fishing. We decided to stay close to home so we could catch the Hawks game if fishing wasn't the greatest. Well we missed the first 3 quarters and for some reason the fishing gods must have blessed us today. We fished two lakes today the first always produces a large quantity of fish but nothing to ever get excited about. The second is a private lake and knowing a few home owners is the trick to get in. The first lake was sadly disappointing not for lack of fish but because of insane amounts of weeds. The second lake had us worried because the water level is about 6 feet below normal so a lot of the fishable structure has been taken over by birds. We beat banks for about 45 min and right as the game started was about the time the phrase "Ok Last Cast" was uttered. Well lets just say that "Last Cast" lasted about 2 more hours. I don't know why or how the fish were stacked so deep in the area we found them. I noticed a swirl in the water and seen a few bluegill making some impressive acrobatic moves and decided a soft plastic swim bait might do the trick, while my buddy was throwing a senko with a paddle tail. When I pulled the first fish out I made sure to let him know it was my biggest bass ever. Well that statement was true until my next cast when that fish became the second biggest bass ever. We were both awe struck as we repeatedly hooked and landed these fish out of the same spot for nearly 2 hours. At one point we both agreed there is no reason for these fish to be here and this cant continue. We were both wrong they just kept coming. I couldn't ask for a better day on the lake.
