I was fishing for Trout to start the day and caught 2 about 15", on the small size for this lake. Swung over to a adjoining smaller lake looking for Crappie.....My FIRST EVER Crappie. I worked the weed banks with a Trout Magnet Slip Bobber set up. Nothing for the first 2/3rds of the lake. Normal cast but my bobber did not want to stand up for some reason which it does from time to time. Twitched it a few times to get to do so and down it went. Gave it a pull, not a strong set and I had a fish on! Now, what is it going to be? I was hoping it was a Crappie even though, Bluegill, Perch, Bass and Trout can be had at this lake. Bingo! My first ever Carppie! I guess these are Black Crappie but unsure so help me out please. What a cool looking fish up close and personal instead of seeing them in a You Tube video. This is a Catch and Release Lake so these are on the bigger side as I measured the first one at 11". Next cast, bam another one. Worked the same area for about 15 more cast, nothing so I tried further up and again nothing. Went back to that spot but used a different color and the first cast with it produced.

I fished Light.....Jawbreaker Custom 6' 2" St. Croix Avid Blank UL. 2 lbs Ultragreen on a Pflueger President XT 20 with Maxima 2lbs Flor leader. Slip bobber depth was about 3.5'. Trout Magnet Bubblegum and Clear Speckled Flakes.

Nice fish bob, look on the wdfw site of the lake info, not sure why you couldn't keep crappie in any lake.

Good looking crappie and yes it is a "Black Crappie" good eating fish to make tacos with. I would suggest checking the rule book also because I think you can keep crappie in most all lakes in WA.

Caught a few more on Saturday....funny thing, I caught a 5 lb Rainbow in the same spot and was trying for more Crappie. Thought it was a huge Crappie at first, then I thought it was a Bass and was super surprised that it was a Huge Trout instead.

Thanks Guys for the input.
