well i went to the columbia river today to try and catch some sucker fish because i love pulling those in for some reason...... i did not however catch any suckers. i was using worms and i had a 3 holed swivel with two 2 hooks tied to it with about 2 feet of leader on each. i had my pole leaning on a stick and i hadn't got so much as a nibble for about an hour when my pole began bouncing and dipping so i set the hook and had a fish on, i thought it was a sucker but then it began running side to side which is something I've never experienced before, with suckers. after about 2 minutes i had landed a sturgeon! i was not expecting that..... after i measured it i found it was 27 inches so i took a pic and let it go. that was the only fish of the day.

had fun and will go back soon..... anyone know when suckers will be active?

Yes, this tends to happen alot for me also when I'm fishing for some big old suckers. I often catch some carp,perch, and crappie also.

If u are refering to Squawfish...There is a Seminar once a year at JOES that lets u in on everything. Ive been to it a couple times now, its a pretty interesting seminar. I havent caught much Squaws using worms, but I have caught a few Smallies and my cousin has also caught a Sturgeon some what like yours. Try fishing in Deeper holes, Its still not quite hot enough for any fish to be moving closer towards bank. Should be soon though. Maybe another month and u should be in the money. Gj on the Sturgeon too, thats a fish still on my To Catch list!
