My son and I hit the Offut lake Resort on Friday night. After setting up our tent, we ambled down to the dock and watched the red and purple sunset slide beneath the horizon and allow the speckled drops of stars to begin shining. Not one bite, not even a nibble - but we didn't care.
Gorgeous!
The next morning we rented an electric boat, trolling red and green wedding rings. Right off, my son got a 11" rainbow which he released. We drove on only to run across a patch of weeds out from the shoreline quite far. I didn't know it at the time, but entangled in that mess was some fishing line that wrapped itself around the propeller something fierce. To make matters worse, mother nature decided to hit the "smite" button and began blowing a fierce wind away from the shore. With the engine gone, I rowed for my life but pretty soon we were entirely on the wrong side of the lake.
That's when "Jeff" came along. Nice guy, he towed us back. I owe you one.
After lunch, we took out a canoe. Had a few bites, nothing much, but had a great time!
