I fished Lake Roosevelt this weekend and these are the results. Walleye were hitting hard, The seemed to be deep, sometimes 100'+
We launched at Porcupine Bay and I fished the NE side of the lake all the way to Gifford the first day. I trolled a variety of things producing 5 Walleye 14"-20" and 2 smaller ones. I hooked up with one Rainbow about 15", but very fat. Lost him at the edge of the boat. Sunday morning, we started early in the morning and trolled to Kettle falls and caught only 1 14" Walleye. I turned around and trolled on the other side of the lake back down and noticed a lot of fisherman still fishing from there boat, so I followed routine, found me a nice hole 75' deep with a drop off to 120' and dropped some maggot powerbait over the edge of the boat. I caught 3 rainbows ranging from 12" to 17" this way in about an hour and a half. I released every thing I caught, not needing any fish at the moment. A good weekend all in all, but I pissed about the lack of intelligence of some boaters, both at the launch and on the water. If you cant back a trailer down the launch, then you should not own it. I plan on fishing this lake again very soon, If anybody is needing a partner, Email me: Jackassjunkshoppe@comcast.net.
