I can't quite remember when it was that I fished Roosevelt although I remember the details. Fishing stated off slow, we launched our boat from Wilmont Creek and began driving along the river, we decided to try our luck for some kokes. We slapped on some plugs and things fished for quite some time, no results. I decided to switch to pop-gear (the large 5 blade shiny nickel ones) followed buy a hook baited with 2 kernels of corn then a half piece of worm and then another 2 kernels of corn. I found quick results with this, landing a fair number of bows, nothing to big though. We decided to take the long boat ride down to the san poil, and began fishing there. WE QUICKLY ran into a school of kokes, I landed a nice 3 pounder on the lead line with pop gear and my grandpa soon after got its identical twin on the downrigger with 4/0 dodgers and wedding ring. He also landed one smaller one (about 12 inches) and we lost 3 or four other little ones. We landed a small net pen bow about every 2 minutes so we didn't get bored. We returned 2 days later to find that the school was gone. We fished in the same area and only caught 1 big 3 pounder all day. I think we may have had a few smaller ones that fell off but I'm not sure. I also landed a nice 3-4 pound rainbow which I released. All and all it was a very good trip! THE FISH TASTED EXCELLENT ON THE
B-B-Q!!!!
