We fished Rufus Woods and Lake Roosevelt (read my report for Lake Roosevelt also) for four days from April 3rd to April 6th. Both bodies of water produced nice fish and the weather cooperated as well. We had some friends join us on our property on Lake Roosevelt from Montana and as usual we fished hard for four days from sun up till sun down. Each day we would split up with some going on the lake and some heading to Rufus, while some were on the pontoons, and some were on the boat. We never did get the boat on Rufus since the sinking fly line off the pontoons was working so well. Rufus won for size, obviously, but Roosevelt produced more fish.

Overall we probably averaged about 3 to 5 fish per day, per person on Rufus. At times when the water was flowing the bite was really on and a guy could catch a few fish around 5 pounds an hour. When the water was not moving we were lucky to get one fish an hour. We were using sinking fly line with an assortment of wooly worms and wooly buggers. Brown seemed to work the best. Our biggest was 8lbs and we also caught some nice native rainbows the biggest at 5 pounds.

We probably caught between 25 and 50 fish and only about 3 or 4 of them were the newly released tagged fish. I was happy to see that these fish looked real healthy...we released all of these fish. I will be writing a more in-depth story of our trip on my blog (Gonzipheris) that will have a lot more pictures and detail. It should be posted by the end of the weekend. Also I am in the process of editing video that I took to post to my blog also.
