It's really hard to rate today's outing only a "3", because it was a "5" in every other aspect other than fish in the boat. :-)
We met Blufin Loui and his wonderful wife Cindy in Grand Coulee where they presented us with some of their special gear for our first ever trip to RW. We made a plan for the day and set off for the launch.
We ran down to the first set of netpens and Lewis pointed out the "bar" in front of the pens and we set up to troll while they went down to the next set of pens to work their magic.
We trolled the area for awhile with no results, then moved over and trolled upstream in front of the pens and started to get some hits. We didn't connect there, but I had a solid strike and fish on right up until I pulled my rod out of the holder and then he was gone. Oh well, it is fishing!
We decided to make a run down to the next set of pens and see how Lewis and CIndy were doing and she had just pulled in their first fish as we motored up to them. It was reassuring to see them put one in the boat. We chatted for a few minutes then went back to the upper pens and switched over to our Roosevelt combo. Made a pass in front of the pens and then moved over close to the shore and were working upstream when the fish my wife is holding in the pic decided he liked what he saw.
As fate would have it, that was all there was to be today. We trolled around for another half hour or so, hoping to entice another one, but no go.
Great company, gracious hosts (who also provided us with some wonderful looking smoked fish), and a nice big trout in the cooler, what more could I ask for. :-)
Tight LInes!
