Made a run up to Roosevelt to try our luck for silvers. Launched at Seven Bays about 8am and then headed up to the mouth of the Sanpoil. Had a pretty decent chop and overcast when we launched, but by the time we got to the Sanpoil, the sun was shining and the water was real smooth. Not my preferred conditions. We trolled outside the mouth of the Sanpoil and then worked our way into it. After about 90 minutes, one of my wife's rigs went off and she boated the nice silver seen above. It was 18" and weighed 2lbs, 1oz. Had a couple other hits, but that one silver turned out to be the only fish we boated today.
Talked to one other angler when we had returned to the launch and he reported similar results, but had 2 rainbows for his efforts.
Absolutely beautiful day on the water, sunny, warm, calm, blue skies, and snow covered hills. With the great company, and awesome scenery I had no complaints. :-)
We were trolling flies on leaded line 150' back and long lining plugs on mono at 225' back. Speed was 1.8 - 2.0mph. One fly was tipped with pink maggots (that's the one the silver took) and the other with a piece of crawler. Water surface temp was 43.8°.
