One of the toughest fishing days we've had at Roosevelt in a really long time. Ended the day with only one takedown and no fish. We met Aaron at Seven Bays @ 7am and proceeded to the mouth of the Sanpoil where we trolled for a couple hours. We used most every fly we had yesterday, and different plugs as well, but no takers. I had what I'll call a takedown vs a strike, and whatever it was, broke the main hook clean off my Frisky Jenny perch pattern fly!

We decided to bag the Sanpoil and head up to Hawk Creek for the afternoon and as we headed out we passed who I thought was Mav186 so after taking the missus and the dog to shore for a quick nature break, we ran back up to see, and it was. So, we all decided to make the run to Hawk Creek. It was a WALakes.com convoy! :-)

We fished Hawk Creek for an hour or two and Mav had to leave about 1:00, so we parted ways and we motored back into Hawk Creek where he and his fishing partner were plying their luck. None of us caught anything in Hawk Creek, so I told Aaron we were going to find a promising looking bay to beach the boat and plunk some bait. They decided to follow and off we went. We enjoyed a nice, warm afternoon drowning Powerbait with no results, so around 4:00 we packed our stuff and bid Aaron farewell for the day.

Got home before dark and didn't have a mess of fish to fool with so it wasn't all bad! :-)

It was sure nice meeting you and Aaron yesterday! I love that area...may be one of these times we can fish all day, and then tell stories around the camp fire at night!
Take Care,

I'm game for that Mav, sure wish we'd had some time to swap stories and enjoy everyone's company more. We're heading up for a 3-day weekend 4/30 - 5/2, and plan to meet up with online friends from the Hewescraft Owner's Forum who are bringing their 24' Pacific Cruiser (very nice BIG boat) from the other side of the mountains. I sure hope fishing improves some by then. Also, my brother and his family are driving over from the west side the Monday after Easter so we'll be up at Roosevelt the next day - just in case anyone happens to be up there. Wouldn't mind meeting up with you at Spring Canyon or Swawilla to learn some spots and techniques for the kokes, it's a long drive whether by land or water, but it would be worth it. Til next time, good luck and good fishing! :-)

I will be back in the area on April 14th-17th with a similar game plan!

Hi Hewesfisher
Sorry to hear you had a slow day on the lake , been there on that one a few times . I see that the water level is rising on the lake , I have found that you might as well stay home when this happens .

Sounds good Mav, there's a possibility another brother may be over that weekend, so you never know. I agree Charlie, and when I checked the most recent lake level Saturday morning on the Corps of Engineers link, it hadn't been updated since the 18th. At that time it had been dropping, so I didn't know it had come back up. Higher lake levels combined with a high barometric pressure pretty much turned the fishing off Saturday. Tight lines to all! :-)
