We fished for three days on the lake over Memorial Day weekend and couldn't have asked for better fishing. The catching was tough at times as the wind was blowing off and on and the fish were big enough to win most of the battles. We landed a few koks in the 4lb range and lost plenty of others as well as some very nice bows. Each day the boat catch was between 15-30 fish total. We kept some for smoking and BBQ'n and released the others. The fish were taking anything from a black wooly bugger, orange rappalas, to our coulee special spinner with a flasher. Both koks and bows were active on the top of the water, raising all weekend. Downriggers were no deeper than 40ft mostly between 20ft and 30ft. The competition was intense between the leaded lines and downriggers, the winner depending on who you ask :) We target the secondary drop offs and cliffs that the fish like to hang close to or even on top of. I look forward to going back and getting some more giant koks... The one pic is of my dad who finally landed his 4lb kok on Monday after hearing about ours all weekend. After fishing for a couple of hours and catching some smaller koks he put on his "secret weapon" from the old days, and no kidding, as soon as he finished puting his rod in the holder the fish was on before he could sit down! Stay tuned...I will post the video on my blog soon.
