i knew we'd have a few hours to fish this morning before starting the long trek back to the coast and we figured we'd like to try roosevelt just above coulee dam, as it's close to where we were staying. we'd spent the weekend fishing rufus and wanted to try someplace new for us. we put in the water about 0600 at cresent bay launch. it was a bit overcast and windy, with the water temp was at 58*. we ran a mile or so above the spring canyon launch and crossed over to the other side and trolled the shoreline back towards the dam. my buddy picked up a 12" rainbow right off the bat. we had to keep him as he was hooked deep, then he got a couple of SMB back to back that were released unharmed. i had a few strikes, but it took me over an hour to get a solid hit, and i boated a very fiesty 4# rainbow after an awesome fight. for their size, these fish had alot more 'zing" in them than what we'd been catching at rufus and it was nice to catch fish that had a normal tail on them, lol. the wind really picked up and we were back at the launch by 0900 or so. for my next extended trip i think i'll be exploring roosevelt some more... sorry no pics of the fish, my camera died right after we took the one at the ramp.
