Fished just north and south of seven bays marina trolling within 100 yards of the shore from 9:30 to 3. Bites were steady but not frequent like the other 2 times I have been here. Not as many larger fish. Probably hooked about a dozen or so. 5 were 18 plus, none were over 10 inches. 2 of the large ones got off, possibly because I was using a barbless fly (gonna tie up some on barbed tiemcos or gamakatsus next time). Seemed like circling around and repeatedly going over spots where I got bit was the ticket. Directional changes didn't seem to matter.

Unlike before, there was no interest in trolled crankbaits on mono line. Got a few taps early on, then nothing for the rest of the day kept switching but nothing seemed to work: small floating raps, shad raps, tail dancers, husky jerks.

Everything was caught on 3-4 colors of leadcore, 60 feet 4 lb mono with a dark olive wooly bugger. Water temp was about 36, trolling speed was 2-2.5. There was some small debris in the water, but clarity seemed good.

not a bad day, what do you guess to be the depth that you were fishing at with that much lead core and a 60' leader? I have never fished with lead core before so I'm not very familiar with it.

I think it was 20' deep. With that amount same setup and 3-4 colors, I'll bump bottom on 15-20' deep outcrops at rock lake. I've only started using it, I usually troll crankbaits only, but figured it was a good winter method. It has definitely been paying off this winter, I'll keep trying it in the spring and see how it goes.

one more question, do you use anything in front of the wooly bugger or just the wooly bugger

Nothing in front of the wooly bugger, but I do apply scent
