Well, at least it was a good day for fishing, not so much when it came to catching. Beautiful sunny day on the water, calm winds, water temp 35, who could ask for anything more.
Launched at Lincoln around 9 after stopping to visit an old friend who recently moved there. Had high hopes, but was a little leary of the fact the water has been dropping so much. Trolled the usual Roosevelt weapons, but a fly behind a dodger tipped with crawler was the winner. Started out good, hooking fish along the shore just west of the pens, boated 2 15" fatties, but released them thinking the day had just begun... after a dry spell, went down around the point and had the same results, a few average 15 inchers and a few missed hits. Then I finally boated a respectable 3+ pounder. That would be the last fish of the day to see the inside of my boat. I tried all the usual spots and some out of season areas too. When fish were marked, they obviously were not interested. I only had 2 other fish on (lost 'em) and by the looks of the boat traffic others weren't having banner days either, unless running and gunning every known hot spot is a sign of success. I hope in the end they had a more fruitful day than I did.
Was anyone out in the sterling point - white rock area fortunate enough to find any kokes?
Fish or no fish, you can't beat Roosevelt on a sunny winter day!
Tight lines to all....
