2nd time to rufus, made the trip from Tacoma.
Camped at bridgeport state park and tried motoring up to the pens, the carbs on my 50 horse werent doing too great and only made it up about 12 miles on 10 gallons of gas, ran up with 5 and back with 5.Decided to take a drive up to grand coulee and launch somewhere closer, we found seatons grove up stream about 5 miles from the pens, launched there and motored down to about 200 yrds from the upper pen and found a calm water hole on the east bank.
Water temp was 52 degrees used a red and gold weddin ring dbl hooked w/out bait100 feet back and .8 an mph 5-10 feet down and slayed them. all 4-7+ lbs and fiesty. Bigest trout for me personly. and my nephews first fish of his life was a 4 pounder. released a few smaller guys and went to leave. tried to head upstream and the flow was too great. decided to motor down to chief joes dam and did not realize it was 50 miles. we made it to the 8 marker on gas, and the 3 marker with the troller then dead in the water.
an 11 hour adventure for 45 minutes of fishing b4 we limited out. great experiance all in all, towed back to bridgeport and ate dinner.
tuning boat up and will be going back in 3 weeks.
The ice chest pic in a cut gutted and head off in a 48 qt ice chest and still came to within an inch from each end and 2" from top and bottom, just a hawg fish!!!
