Well the plan was to fish Lake Pateros this weekend. When we pulled into Columbia Park we didnt see a boat on the river and thought somethings wrong here. As we were walking to talk to some of the guys sitting in a boat a guy from the city stop and asked if we were going to fish and camp. After a short talk with him he told us the fish were there but not hitting anything to go try below Wells Dam so we did. The 4 of us fished Qwikfish and Superbaits the whole weekend. My wife Melodie caught a nice 24lb Chinook on Friday evening on a Qwikfish. Myself and Colton teamed up on a 5lb Jack on Saturday morning on the same Qwikfish. Sunday morning I landed a 9lb Chinook once again on a Qwikfish. Almost all the fish we saw caught were hitting Superbaits. The shore fisherman were catching their fair share of fish on Friday but didnt see any the rest of the weekend from them. The fishing down below Wells seems to be fairly slow, but when they run the turbines and you start fishing in 4-5ft rollers it becomes unfishable. We saw people on Sat about sinks boats and have their boats pushed onto shore and about roll over. If your heading down there dont leave your boat on shore for more than a few minutes cause when they shut them back down the water drops a couple feet it seems and your boats left high and dry. So Sunday when the turbines came on we headed to Lake Pateros where we hadnt trolled more than 15 minutes when we had a fish on but was unbale to hook the fish. We fished for another 2 hours for no hits. Hopefully we can get back down there for one more shot at these fish....Good fishing everyone.
