Hit the Lincoln boat ramp around 8:00, motored down to the Goat Farm and had lines in the water by 8:30. With two pole permits we were able to troll 4 lines. Started off with 2 Rapalas on lead core out 150’, an apex with a dodger on mono out 175’ and a Lenny’s Special perch trolling fly tipped with a worm on mono out 250’. We kept our speed wintertime fast, between 3 and 4 mph. It was a beautiful mid-January day, sunny sky and smooth water with very little wind. It was however, one of the colder days I’ve fished in a while. With the water temp at 36, my guides and reels kept icing up until almost noon. We decided to move down to the San Poil after fishing for 4 hours and only catching 1 fish on a Rapala. Still very slow and no bites until the weather changed. We started trolling along the sand banks upstream from the mouth and into a brisk wind out of the east. Then wham, the clicker on the reel with the peach fly starts screaming. I go back to get it and the pole with the Rapala takes a dive. Now we have a double, with two guys on the boat and trolling into the wind. Let’s just say that the next 5 minutes would have made a good You-Tube video. After spinning around and interweaving all 4 lines we somehow managed to land both fish. When we recovered, I put perch fly on the other mono set-up. With the daylight we had left, we caught 4 more on the perch flies. This day was a good lesson on not giving up, 1 fish the first six hours and 6 fish in the last hour and a half.

Ps. does anyone know where you can buy Lake Roosevelt trolling flies? Since White’s Boots quit selling tackle, it’s been tough to get custom inland-northwest gear.

I like to run muddler minnows with a worm at Roosevelt..and instead of a flasher put an action discs in front of your fly.Man it really lights em up.Makes that worm really dance

In answer to your question about Lake Roosevelt trilling flies, you can get some at Warehouse Sports in Spokane, but the do not carry Frisky Jenny flies. Haven't checked White Elephant so don't know what brands they're carrying. I used to buy Frisky Jenny flies at Skipper Bill's but since they closed, I just order direct from the website spinnerbait89 gave you. Order a dozen and get one free and you can mix & match your dozen! Thanks for the nice report! :-)
