Started out fishing by outhouse flats. Caught one rainbow and didn't mark much else so we moved. We ended up by porcupine bay, east end by where it enters the narrows. I have always thought that the spot looked like a great spot for fish to ambush prey.
I start making passes around the bay, running contours around 30-50'. I put on a shad rap no. 5 in craw pattern and tied up a spinner to look like it. We trolled about 1.4-1.6 mph. Wind pushed us a bit. We went with and against current. Water was 75 degrees, air was in the eighties, started partly cloudy and calm, got super clear and calm then the wind picked up. Ended up cloudy and windy in the end.

I finally get to where I want to be by the exit of the bay into the narrows at just around 11:50am. Just as I approach, I get a nice 18", 1.8 pounder on the bottom bouncer. Makes me happy. Into the live well it goes. Keep going and cross the exit, and just as my shad rap gets over the steep contour, another walleye. I did slow turns, watched for traffic and repeated the pass the opposite way. Another walleye. Did that four times before my friend wanted to see what I was using. He didn't have a shad rap, and I only had one no. 5, so I got out a no.7 in craw dad and gave home that one. Make another run and his first fish hits. He thinks he has a snag. I know he doesn't. I get the net. Small towing operation ensues with him and the fish. I dip the net, and lift out a 12lb, 9oz beauty. We smile, congratulate each other and try some more. His next fish is maybe six ounces, so it goes back. Next four passes he gets one each time. All 1.5-2 lbs.

We finally leave because my trim decides to die at 4:00 or so, then two more gremlins pop up. Make it back to camp ok and share the stories and show the fish. People were amazed at how big the big one was. It was all in all a great day. I know I'm heading out to buy mor shad raps. Three colors specifically were great. Fire tiger, craw dad, and perch. Sizes five and seven. Try them out on hot days when the bite is tough. I'm very glad I did. Good luck!

Great Report! How did you configure the shad raps? I spoke with an old time walleye guy who claimed that he used 1 to 2 oz banana weights 20" ahead of his 'raps. I've been banging away down by the cemetery with 1/4 oz jigs with decent luck....right at the drop off and just outside the weed line. Better when the wind kicks up a mudline but that's not often over there.
