We took advantage of the calm winds and launched out of Ft Spokane in search of winter walleyes. We were in Glenn's Lund and our first stop was the island up the arm on the left. We had young Nathan with us and he proceeded to catch the first two eyes of the day, both around 18 inches, on a jig. After a little while and no more action we headed up the Columbia and stopped near outhouse flats. We finally located a bunch of eyes in 45-50 FOW. The best bait was a jig, red head and purple grub tipped with half a night crawler. Our total for the day was 21 eyes, we released the two largest a 25 inch 7 lber and a 22 inch 4 lber both females. We caught one eye that was 16 inches and everything else was 18-21 inches. We also caught three bows all around 17-18 inches, slimy buggers went home with Nathan. Nathan caught both of the big fish and was almost rewarded with a long walk back to Spokane for one upping the seasoned vets. We relented and let him return with us. All in all an excellent day on Roosevelt. As I am writing this report my share of walleye fillets are cooking on the grill.
