Tough day, but only because it was so hot. Wow, 95 degrees and almost no wind. LOL

Started out in the Spokane Arm, but did not stay long because only a few very small fish were hitting in my locations. We moved into the main lake. The Spokane Arm is 6 degrees warmer then the main lake right now.

We found a stretch of shore that had all the right conditions and the Walleye were on. Either by trolling bottom bouncers or slow fall jigs, they were aggressive. OK, maybe aggressive is not so accurate. They would usually just load up on the rig and you would need to set the hook. A lot of fish were missed. Still, it was not a game of big fish. Most of the fish were sub 15 inchers, I even caught two that were only 6", but the top fish was 17 inches.

Two of us brought home 11 Walleye, 1 good SMB, and released at least 20 smaller Walleye, several small SMB, and a few slimers (small rainbow trout).

Hi Anglinarcher, Sure can be hot down there. Cudos for braving the heat! Did the walleys have any color preference?

Downriggeral, Sorry, I thought I had put the information into the format. I see it did not show. Green, Chartreuse, gold were the colors of choice, but pink caught some also. Silver and Fluorescent orange did not. The fish were near the bottom like almost all Walleye are, but sometimes the bottom meant a near vertical cliff. Most fish were caught at 13 to 24 feet, but some could be seen on the locater a bit deeper. Death roll hooks caught the smallest fish, spinner rigs the most, slow fall jigs the largest. Water was 66 degrees plus in the main lake and 6 degrees warmer in the Spokane Arm. Speed was not critical, but .7 to 1.5 mph was the best range. Good luck if you give it a try.

it used to be those sub 15's were in the slot and the 17's were go back's. Mulling over the weather now to see if I'm going to go bake myself this weekend. Perhaps I will see you on the water.

Thanks for the report, been getting ready for harvest and haven't had a chance to make it up there but enjoy reading the reports. Getting too hot now for my wife anyway. 95 and no wind feels like a sauna.
