8/29/2014 9:31:00 AMOGF: Thanks for the report! I admire a man who teaches his kids fishing when they're young. It's a great way to get them involved in the outdoors and away from smart phones and texting. My dad taught me fishing basics when I was 4 and I fished by myself in farm ponds for bluegills and bass throughout my childhood and have fished ever since...and that's 59 years!
I'm heading over to Two Rivers next week for 4 days....any suggestions on fly or flasher colors and sizes? I see David (Kekedatackleco) responded to your post and I'll for sure have a full battery of his flies along with me. Last time I was there I killed 'em up at Abraham Cover with the orange pattern.

8/29/2014 11:25:00 AMThanks, SnoKing. I agree about teaching kids to fish. It's a clean hobby that will serve them well all their lives. My Dad taught me, and I've loved it ever since (47 yrs for me). I believe it's truly what "quality time" is. These are the times they'll remember.
I had good luck with a chartreuse with blue hackle trolling fly about 1' behind the small chrome Mack's Double D dodger. The other most productive was a self tied double whammy with one chrome, and one blue Mack's smile blade. I think they're about 3/4 in. Hit it shallow at first, and last light, then when there's more light 40-45' seemed to be the depth. You're gonna get 'em! Good luck, tight lines!

8/29/2014 7:01:00 PMOGF. Yeah, I'm looking forward to teaching my grandson the art and enjoyment of fishing. He's 2 now and I figure next year will be about right for initial instruction. Bluegill on a worm for starters then progress up the chain. Thanks for the info; I'll make sure my hardware arsenal includes your suggested gear.
