Headed out Friday evening in order to get an early start Saturday AM. We headed to White Rock and were fishing by 7:30. Fishing wasn't on fire but the bite was consistant. The only consistant producer for the day was an orange rapala 3 colors out at 3.0mph. It out fished all our lures. We kept 8 fish between the three of us. Most of the fish were first year fish with only a few at 17".
Sunday we headed for Split Rock and were not getting much action on anything until we fished over the deepest part of the channel. I guess that's where the big ones were hanging out. We kept almost 3 limits and a good majority of the fish were carry-overs 17-19". The orange rapala was not as hot Sunday but caught its fair share. After two days of fishing, the poor lure had seen better days. Green rippin minnow and perch rippin minnow were the hot lures. The few times we tried flies tipped with worms, we came up empty.
Lots of wild life over the two days. Big horn sheep by White Rock, lone coyote wandering the beach, and Bald Eagles everywhere you go on the river. It was a great trip and looking forward to my next. Good luck and tight lines.
