In the water at 0900. Something less than 20 degrees so yes, it was cold. Put up the canvas and just started to fish. Headed up to Split Rock, dropped in a couple of Frisky Jenny flies (green and black). Wind from the north somewhere below 10 knots, water temperature 45 degrees and some light chop. Picked up a couple at Split Rock, then headed south towards the confluence on the west side. Hung a carryover, 4 pounds and a dink at 16 inches - fun nevertheless. All in all, 7 fish to the boat and all released to fight another day.
Tried dragging the perch colored Rapalas as was mentioned here and NOTHING. Tried it on the flat line, and on the downrigger - NADA squat. The only thing that worked today was lead line, 200 feet back, Green and Black Frisky Jenny flies and worm chunks. Wish I knew how folks were boating 40 fish a day on crankbaits. Come to think about it - I've been fishing Roosevelt for 25 years and NEVER boated/released more than 10 fish in a day. Go figure.
Out of the water at 1300, great day on the water - saw only two other boats. Little windy, little chilly but a great day.
