2nd Installment in the continuing saga of the voyages of the Tin Guppy.
Son Sam and I took the Guppy to Keller Ferry, first time trip for either of us. When the sign says 10 on a corner it means GO SLOW.
What a great day! God once again smiled on this old sinner. Hard to believe it was Juanuary in the Northwest. We got our lines in the water just up stream of the San Poil around 9 AM and had our limits of Rainbow before 1 PM on a day when it just keep getting nicer out. Never had the slightest wind and actully had trouble seeing because of the sun in my eyes on the way back. Heavy fog in both directions on the drive though. We used a little bit of everything orange and got fish fairly regularly. Never really had a hot spell just kept picking one up one here and another there. Didn't get anything over 18" but enough of those to have a nice mess. Wife will be canning these, pretty big demand by guys at work sine I took in a jar from the last bunch. We tried switching things up in hope of getting some Kokane but there seems to be more I need to learn about that, we just hooked more rainbow, in a different spot, at a different speed on pink things rather than orange. Seemed to have good luck getting strikes if I would drop the speed from around 2 to just barely 1 but much harder to get them to stick. Faster troll definetly results in more fish to the boat when they do hit. Still lots to learn. I let Sam outfish me again as any good father should although he claims it was because he added some Smileys to his setup. I have let him outfish me so many times he actually believes it is skill on his part. No gratitude. And so it goes.
