Icy roads and thick fog on the Waterville flats made for a slow start. We put in at Spring Canyon around 09:00. We got one of the last spots in the lower lot. Air temp. mid-30's. Winds were slight to non existent. The sun tried to break through a few times. Just prior to arrival to SC I received a text from McFisherson13. He had to show me his beautiful Kokanee he had started his day with (pictured below). I was with my buddy Jerry in an open boat. We had 2 propane heaters along but, never fired them. The morning fishing was the best. We had a few doubles & one triple! We C&Rd several Bows. We ended the day with 10 Bows 15-19'' and 3 native Kokes 12-13''. We fished from SC down to the dam. I think the number of boats out in front of SC scattered the fish. There were a dozen or so working the area. At one time we were Zero for twelve on hook-ups. I've never missed that many before. Go figure?
Orange was the color of the day. Although, pink and red got hit also.
We had to laugh at the end of the day, we saw far more boats on the road in January than snow mobiles.
