Well my last two days down at Vernita bridge is nothing to brag about, but still worthy of a report.

The water levels are lower than normal for this time year. Making launching a little sketchy this year. I don't know about the launches down by the bridge, but the west most launch seems to be a sure bet every day. 4 wheel drive is a must. Unfortunately the crowds have arrived so plan on showing a little early if you want to launch before daylight.

Best bite seems to be at daylight till 11:30 AM. For some reason it seems as if my biggest fish for the day is the first one of the morning. My largest fish this week was 26 pounds and still of good color on both the skin and the flesh. Friday we managed to land six salmon, one sturgeon, and an 8 pound walleye. Of course we release the sturgeon. Saturday was also pretty good with five chinooks to the boat. All fish were caught using Brad's super baits off my downriggers. Depth color and scent didn't seem to matter for us much. We got fish as high up as 14 feet and all the way down to 5 feet off the bottom in 50 feet of water.

After fishing the reach day after day after day I take its beauty for granted. It's my guests who reminded me how wonderful it is just to be on the river whether or not we catch fish.

I have several more openings in the upcoming weeks and would like to see some of you on the boat this fall. Give me a call and let me treat you to a great day on the river. You can also check out my facebook page and give it a like to receive daily trip reports.

Good luck to you all and don't forget to take a kid fishing.
