Drove down Monday morning to Drano--arrived at 10am; lake was full of boats. Wind was howling steady 20 out of the west..made trolling tough. Actually pretty good action as someone somewhere was fighting a fish. Went 1/3 on the troll...lost one at the boat, lost a serious take down & boated a nice 12lb fish. Bite died in the afternoon so anchored with the bobbers til 7. I had dug fresh sand shrimp the day before so thought I had the ticket--I was wrong. The boat next to us was tossing deep purple cured prawns & 5 of them summarily wacked 10 kings in less than an hour--torture to watch as I obviously did not have the right bait. I gotta find out the secret sauce. Saw a few others caught on sand shrimp but not many. Excited for Tuesday morning as had heard Monday morning was good. Left Stevenson at 4am & my truck promptly died 1/2 mile out of town. Took till 10am to figure out it was a bad distributor cap/rotor...thanks to David (who I met at NAPA) for helping & ultimately Tim at Bob's towing & repair for pinpointing the problem. That said, launched Tuesday at 10:30 with reports of a much slower morning. In the water 5 minutes & wacked a nice low teener. Slow til 2 & then long drive back to Kenmore. So, all in all, for not fishing a morning, we brought 2 nice springers back & had chances at 2 others. With the right juice, could have had some more bobber doggin. Please God, let Puget Sound/Straits/Juans be open this summer... Good luck all!
