Started fishing above the #7 can and up the narrows toward the falls, my idea - to make a long story short, we spent
3 hours fishing/finding out where they were not - finally the wife issued one of her ultimatums and we went back
to where we caught last week, in a short section of the narrows above Porcupine bay - and sure enough we started
catching again - at least she didn't rub it in too hard. We were having a pretty good time filling the cooler with
15-21" 'eyes until wife was just putting her pole back in - had about 10' of line out and down about 5' when
whammo something hit hard, real hard, and came flying out about 3' in the air, did a full flip before hitting the
water and taking off - nice 21"bow, later I got a 23 1/2" bow. We tried to maintain 35-45 FOW, but close to the
bank that can be tricky, so constantly playing with the "i pilot" to keep us in the productive water. We were using
both greens as well as my special #3 colorado blade with dark red and purple reflector tape.Smile blades with the
same dark colors also caught. Hook arrangements were both slow death #2 and a #2 with a #2 stinger - slow
death hooks got 1/2 worm and double hook arrangement got a whole one. Even got a couple of smallies to close
out the day. Wind got a little pesky in the narrows, but it came and went. All in all a good day. Kept 9 walleye,
that's enough for the needy, not to be greedy - we'll be back again in a couple of weeks. Oh, yea, almost forgot,
kept the troll speed at about .8-.9mph going down riverand .6mph up - had started a little slower, but were
loosing a few, so picked up the pace a little bit, much better results.
