6/26/2016 1:31:00 PMI found walleye on the gravel flats and also lurking in the deep holes near the flats and surrounded by rocks. The fish on the flats were more active but scattered. Fished a shad imitation in silver. They liked that better than chartreuse. Didn't matter what time of day and I was out by 5 AM. and came in by 6PM.
I'd have loaded up with large numbers but the long slimy green weed kept foulng my crankbait. I tried anchoring and jigging with twister tail and crawler but no luck. They wanted the shad color and they didn't care too much about speed.
Those eyes are fat!! Also filled with fat in the stomach area. No food in the gut so I don't know what they are eating if anything yet. Seems they are done spawning, have rested and are going to the flats at about 18'. The holding fish were at 25-35' in schools. Hard to fish it in the wind and heavy current with weed.
