I had the privilege Friday of introducing my guest to Lake Roosevelt, its beautiful scenery, and its wonderful fish. We spent most of the day looking for some prized Kokanee. During this process we caught and released 15 small rainbow and Kokanee. Most of the undersized Kokanee we have been catching do have clipped fins. This is very good news since we did not land a single Kokanee this year over 12 inches that had its adipose fin removed. After landing two good size Kokanee we started looking for some walleye.
The first spot we tried produced several small mouth bass. Late afternoon we move to another location and started searching the depths with bottom walkers and worm harnesses. Just when it looked like we were going to strike out on eyes my guest got hung up on the bottom. I was about to reverse the boat when I saw his rod tip twitch. About the time he assured me it was the bottom his rod twitched again. As it turns out his "snag" was. 9.5 lb Walleye caught in 60' feet of water on a brown smile blade worm harness.
I'm looking forward to my last two weeks at Roosevelt until I start fishing Vernita king Salmon. After that I will return to Roosevelt for some great fall fishing.
I finally joined the modern age and put up a website. You can find it at captaindavesguideservice.com
