Friend Ron and I decided to head for Roosevelt today to try our luck on the Spokane Arm. Launched at Porkey Pine bay around 8:15 and put in a mixture of gear including Rapalas and perch Kekeda flies. Tried different depths and speeds all to no avail. The fish just would not bite. Finally decided to run down to the confluence and see if we could interest any fish there with out offerings. Ron hooked up first and then followed with a quick second on a Canadian spoon he had been wanting to try. I had several hook ups on the Perch Kekeda that I lost part way to the boat. Check for hook sharpness Alan...duh must have caught too many along the way on that Kekeda as it had very dull hooks. How many times have I preached about SHARP hooks. Guilty as charged.

We finally managed to get 5 in the boat when the wind started howling; big waves. Decided to troll our way back into the arm and I put on a small orange OG1 that Donn from Old Goat Lures put together for me. It scored the biggest fish of the day; thanks Donn.

All in all a great day on the water with friend Ron. It's always great to get out with friends and enjoy Lake Roosevelt.

Great looking fish, Alan! Thanks for using the flies too. We encountered some of those big waves right outside of the confluence as well. They are viscous when they start rolling! Sounds like a great way to end the trip, calm water and the biggest fish! -Dave

Good to hear that you got out. Did you go up from Porcupine or were you always on the downstream side. I was thinking of going to the upper part of the arm on my next trip but maybe the confluence is the place to be.

Part-Time - Fished up stream to no avail. A lot of water is coming over the Nine mile Dam and the arm is somewhat dirty and two degrees colder than the main lake. I wouldn't spend the time up there if you are chasing trout.

Good to see you got out Alan and caught some of those nice Roosevelt 'bows. I agree, the OG lure has a very nice action to it. Put a video up on YouTube showing action at about 2mph, for any interested - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPhAMu2p8F0. I video'd action at speeds of between 1.5 and 3.0. Seemed the best action would be at speeds between 1.8 - 2.5mph.
