Hit the water at 6:30 and headed to the area around the mouth of the Tucannon. Used Worms, beef liver, powerbait (catfish nuggets), and not even a hit. Fished from 10-40ft of water. Water was very calm, sun was hot, and water was a little murky (shallow and muddy around the mouth). Changed species after no luck with cats, and went for Smallies against the weeds on the left side of the mouth. Hit 5 smallies before relocating to the front of the hatchery. hooked up my bigger rod, as i know there are some sturgeon down there to, and used the same bait, although i did throw out some cut herring as well. Again nothing. However to sturgeon were caught by other boats. The guy anchored next to me measured his at 54 inches. There were 5 boats fishing the hatchery, and other than that I did not see to many fishermen. Just a lot of recreational boats. The smallmouth fishing was great, however it looks like I need to work on my Cat techniques. Any info you have on cats in this area, let me know, I hear there are some big ones to be had.
