A good friend and I fished the Snake River above Central Ferry on Saturday morning for sturgeon and catfish. Overall, it was a slow day with only three sturgeon bites, though we managed to get two of those to the boat. One was legal and the other was undersize. The pictures show my buddy fighting a 49.5 inch sturgeon that he hooked using squid for bait. Most of the bites came early in the morning before 9 am and we were anchored in about 70 feet of water. I did manage to catch a 3-4 lb catfish also. This time of year is usually good for sturgeon, however, Saturday was much cooler than the previous days and that may have slowed the bite down. We may try down near Lyons Ferry this weekend for catfish based on a good earlier report.
