We launched at Couse Creek in Hells Canyon at 9:00 am, it was overcast and very warm, but the cool nights has lowered the river temp to 56 degree. Today we headed down river for four or five miles to a run that has been productive in the past, but when we got there it was full of boats, five to be exact, most we have seen fishing this run at the same time. Fishing in a circus like that is not much much fun, so we decided to fish the other side of the river, proceeded to put the scented plugs out, one being a Hot-N-Tot, that is all chewed up from previous catches. We were back trolling at a very slow pace in 6' to 9' of water, in about twenty minutes Barb's rod went down and she was into what turned out to be a five pound wild one that we released without taking out of the water, was a beauty, and it jumped several times. We had a fair day of fishing and ended up keeping the two in the pictures, released the rest. I have to tell you, the river was so packed with boats that it was not all that much fun at times, mainly due to the boat wakes, if you are planning on coming over, try to do it Mon. thru Thurs. the weekends will be packed.
The TR-1 Autopilot connected to a 8 hp Honda that I told you about in my last report has a new life, seems that the only malfunction was the operator, the battery that it is connected to had run low on power causing it to switch off when the voltage went below 9 volts, if I had switched the battery controller to the "ALL" position everything would have been fine, don't we just kick ourselves sometime, I found it right away after digging out the manual. Good work. Sounds like another fun trip on the water, sooner or later i will have to get over that way and try for my first steely!... Glad to hear your malfunction was cheap and easy to fix!!!

This is the time to do it, the Steehead are here, and the weather is great. I was about ready to spend $2500 on a new TR-1, the one I have is vintage, and parts no longer available, have had it for twelve years, makes fishing from a boat almost too easy. Ken
