We had our first trip of the year with clients on the Palouse River for Channel Cats. The weather was windy and cold. Water temps were in the low 50's. We fished up the river in many spots where we found some nice cats for this early in the year. We also hooked up on a 6-8ft Sturgeon that we were unsucesssful in landing on a 7 ft medium heavy pole with 20lb test. We did fight it for over an hour and fifteen minutes. Here are a couple of pics from the weekend. If anyone is interested in going on one of these Channel Cat trips let me know. Good fishing everyone..

Nice. I had no idea you could catch channel cats this early, with water temps that low.

thank you. I have an idea where it is. Fished up the river two years ago about as far as a prop boat would safely go.

Cut bait, worms, other, or are they hitting lures yet? I always love early cats when they hit spinners and jigs. Nice haul!

We had a jet boat and went up aways might have been farther than 1 1/2 miles water was 2 ft in alot of spots up there and less to get to some depper holes. Caught fish on liver,worms for the most part.

are there any deep holes at the falls you could fish from shore?
