Friend Scott loves to fish the Snake at Clarkston and invited me to come down for a couple of days. Fished Saturday the 24th and Sunday the 25th. One of the great things about this fishery is easy launching and no wind to speak of and beautiful sunshine. One of the not so great things is ONLY hatchery clipped fish can be retained including Jacks! The limit is six....really?

Got on the water about 7 on Saturday and trolled Super Baits in both cut plug and original. Threw every known producer and the rest of the tackle box at them for no love; not one take down! A few fish were caught but not many and few if any hatchery fish keepers. Tough day for sure.

Sunday we got on the water around 6:30 and found fewer boats fishing. Saw one boat get a Jack they couldn't keep. Other than that very few fish were hooked and we never saw a fish go in a boat. As for us about 8:30 my rod went off and the fish was well hooked. Made a great run and we got it up to the boat and low and behold it was a hatchery hen! WOW I couldn't believe it. Normally it takes 8 or ten fish to get a keeper. The fish fell for a Super Bait Cut Plug in Seahawk with a very short 2' leader behind a silver flasher. Did I mention garlic? Oh boy enough garlic to be the star attraction at a Greek festival!! And there you have it tow days fishing, one take down and one fish in the boat. Man am I spoiled fishing at The Dalles. The general consensus is the cold 64 degree water has the fish just moving through and not holding.

All in all a great time spent on the water with my friend and what beautiful fall weather.

Tight lines - Alan
