I launched my non-internal combustion engine onto Wye Lake about 6:30 AM. Bass fishing was tough. Gin clear water and post spawn bass can give most anglers all the challenge they want, including myself. Caught only 2 bass in nearly 2 hours of fishing. The first little guy was only was only 11 1/2 inches long and hit a floating Rapala on the surface. The next fish was a 15 incher and it hit a brown, Berkley Power Worm fished along a big submerged log. Both fish were very near a large school of small bass fry. I don't know if the were guarding the fry or dining on them. I gave them the benefit of the doubt however, and released them where I caught them. Wye has very little aquadic vegetation making it easier to fish a variety of lures at this time of year.. No internal combustion engines are allowed on Wye Lake and there is a slot limit on bass. Only bass less than 12 inches or over 17 inches may be kept - and only one over 17 inches. Good luck, Bob Johansen
