This is the last in the series of reports from Mike Wilson's & my week long trip to Cabo San Lucas, BCS, Mexico.
FYI: I picked the Yukon from the location kind of by random and kind of to be funny since, of course, Cabo isn't a choice.

We fished with Victor Saizar of Santi Sportfishing out of his 23' panga for 6 straight days. This covers Days 5 & 6, our last 2 fishing days on our Cabo trip.
We wanted to fish inshore for Roosterfish and Sierra Mackeral on Day 5. We bought 25 Cabillito's(sp) for $50 from the bait panga's and headed up the Pacific Side. That's goggle eyes to us gringos. We motored up about 8 miles North of the Lighthouse and began what became one of the most rewarding yet scary fishing days of my life. Roosters and Sierra's are surf fish so the goal is to fish in the last curl of the waves before they break. Under normal conditions this can be a bit unnerving. However, on our day it scared me silly at times. Victor was trying to run the baits and have me drive. I had real difficulty reading the waves. A number of times he had to take over the wheel and gun the engine to ride over or punch through curling waves so we wouldn't turtle in them. When he drove, there were no such problems. Because there had been a big storm hitting the California coast the day before, we were picking up the leftovers in the form of huge surf. The regular swells were in the 12 to 15 foot range. Every so often, however, we had true monsters. 30' plus swells that towered above us. It was an incredibly rewarding day! Right away we were into Roosters. We had 3 that either pulled off or threw the hooks depending on the situation. Mixed in, we were getting bit by Sierra's that would just cut us off. Although the bait and hook that you slow troll for Roosters is the same as Sierra's there is a dilemma. If you fish with wire leaders in front of the bait Roosters are much less likely to bite. If you fish mono and Sierra's bite, they will usually severe the mono or braid leader. Finally, I got a nice Rooster to the boat. We held it for pics, revived it and said adios. Victor switched over to wire and we hammered Sierra's! One that Mike got was in the 12 pound range which is pretty darn big for a Sierra. As we were running out of bait, the bite flipped wide open. We had Sierra all around us whacking every livie we threw at them! What an incredible day!
Day 6, started with sad news. Victor showed up to inform us his brother had passed away and he had to make arrangements. However, he had set up an experienced captain that was a friend of his to take us fishing. Since it was the day of the miracle Seahawk V Viking day, we told the guy we would just fish a couple of hours and call it a trip while enjoying the playoff games in a bar. He took us just outside the arc and we jigged with live bait. We immediately got bit and had a 25 minute tussle where we finally gaffed a 20 pound amberjack. Then after a run back in out of natures necessity, we returned to be chased around by a sea lion that would not leave us alone. We finally decoyed him for a bit and got bit again. Mike had a whopper on, but the sea lion returned so we were worried about getting our fish stolen, but "no worries, be happy", the sea lion judiciously left this fish alone. Coming into view it startled us, a nice hammerhead shark! Our captain said "sea lions no like hammerheads, they bite back". After a few pics we released the shark and fed the remainder of our baits to triggerfish, the perch of Cabo...
So over 6 days we caught 13 species of fish, worked 2 different bodies of water and fished in 3 distinctly different manners. Truly the trip of a lifetime!
