I flyfished a small local stream near my appartment today. Not even 10 minutes away, gorgeous day out, perfect flows and good visibility too. It wouldve been an outstanding day even if i got skunked, which wasnt the case. I went 2/4 on sea run cutthroat and missed a few strikes as well. White streamers were the only thing they would hit. I hit my largest fish, solid 17" cutty on a size 4 white/blue clouser. That was my first fish of the day. My next hook up looked to be a 12-13" average size cutthroat which popped free just before i could net it. A few minutes later i lost all my clousers to tree limbs and stumps, so i tied on a gold beadhead size 6 white/uv leech, which produced my next violent take, which came from the same run as my previous hook up. This cutty hit really hard then came jumping and flipping out of the water, as if it was trying to be a mini steelhead, i got it to the net, another really nice 15" cutthroat. Last hook up was a much smaller fish of 8-9" which also fell off shortly after setting the hook. Definately loving the spring creek fishery here in bc.
